Rheumatology Consultants, PLLC has, for over 3 decades, continued to lead the fight for patients suffering from rheumatoid arthritis, connective tissue disorders, and other inflammatory musculoskeletal conditions. Our Physicians

Dr. Capps

Dr. Capps attended Stanford University and received his degree in biology. He graduated with an MD degree from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. He attended University of Kentucky and Washington University for his residency for internal medicine. He then attended the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri, for his fellowship in rheumatology. He is board certified in internal medicine and rheumatology. Dr. Capps joined Rheumatology Consultants, PLLC, July 1983.

Dr. Warrick

Dr. Warrick completed a bachelor of science degree at Davidson College in Davidson, North Carolina, in 1982. He attended medical school at East Carolina University School of Medicine in Greenville, North Carolina, graduating in 1986. He completed residency training in internal medicine in 1989 at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina. He completed fellowship training in rheumatology at MUSC in 1991. He joined Rheumatology Consultants in July of 1991. He is board certified in internal medicine and rheumatology through the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a Fellow of the American College of Rheumatology.

Dr. Gornisiewicz

Dr. Gornisiewicz completed a bachelor of science degree at Lublin School of Medicine in Lublin, Poland, in 1986. He attended medical school at Medical University of Warsaw in Warsaw, Poland, graduating in 1989. He attended residency training at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey. He completed fellowship training in rheumatology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in Birmingham, Alabama, in 2002. He joined Rheumatology Consultants, PLLC, in September 2002. He is board trained in internal medicine and board certified in rheumatology through the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a Fellow of the American College of Rheumatology.

Dr. Baker

Tonya Baker, MD, grew up in rural Oklahoma.  During high school she was active as a personal trainer, sports manager, certified nurse assistant and hospice care assistant.  Dr. Baker completed two Bachelor of Science degrees in Chemistry and Biology with honors at Northwestern Oklahoma State University.  She then pursued her dream of becoming a physician at the American University of the Caribbean Medical School.  AUC allowed Dr. Baker to focus on community service with the indigenous orphan population while allowing her the opportunity to complete her medical rotations in London and Johns Hopkins affiliate hospitals.  She graduated from AUC with honors and completed her internal medicine residency at the University of Tennessee Medical Center.  She completed her rheumatology fellowship at the University of Kentucky.  Following her fellowship she moved with her family back to Knoxville and joined Rheumatology Consultants in September 2015.  She is board certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology.

Dr. Johnsen

Dr. Johnsen attended Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina, where he majored in chemistry and graduated with high honors in 2007.  He attended medical school at Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina, graduating in 2012.  In medical school, he was elected into Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and Gold Humanism Honor Society.  He completed internal medicine residency training in 2015 at University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Saint Thomas Health System in Nashville.  He completed rheumatology fellowship training at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville in 2017.  He joined Rheumatology Consultants, PLLC in July 2017.  He is board certified in internal medicine and rheumatology through the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a Fellow of the American College of Rheumatology.

Erin G.Kimble, PA-C

Erin Kimble is licensed by the Tennessee Medical Board and certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.  She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee as a Chancellor's Honors and College Scholars graduate in 2011.  She then worked in education and cardiac care before attending PA school.  She earned her graduate degree from Wake Forest School of Medicine PA Program.  She worked in internal medicine in Atlanta before joining Rheumatology Consultants.  She completed the Advanced Rheumatology Course by the American College of Rheumatology.  As a PA, Erin works closely with our physicians and sees patients, does physical exams, orders and interprets diagnostic tests, formulates treatment plans, gives injections and prescribes medications.  She is passionate about patient education and desires to work in partnership with patients to help them reach their goals and live healthier lives.  Erin grew up in Knoxville.  In her spare time she loves to cook, ride her bike, travel, and spend time with her husband and family.

Our Staff

Our Administrative Staff

We have a team of well-trained staff who will work with you in making appointments, dealing with insurance companies, handling your telephone messages and providing for your medical records.

Our Clinical Staff

Our certified medical assistants serve alongside your rheumatologist to coordinate the various aspects of your care including laboratory, x-ray, scheduling of procedures and messaging.

Our Infusion Staff

Many of the newer medications available to treat rheumatic disease are given intravenously.  We have experienced registered nurses on staff to administer these medications safely and comfortably when prescribed by your rheumatologist.

Our Clinical Research Staff

 Our research staff is certified by the ACRP (Association of Clinical Research Professionals).  For those patients participating in clinical research trials, they assist the rheumatologist and the patient in carrying our the procedures set forth in the research protocol.  All our protocols are approved by the Food and Drug Administration and Institutional Review Boards.
